A Treatise on the Law of Fire Insurance/Flanders on Fire Insurance 1871 & 1874 Fact Sheet

The second major insurance treatise written by Henry Flanders (his first being on Marine Insurance), an excerpt from Publisher's Weekly, January-June 1874 helps elucidate how important a work this was at the time:"Henry Flanders’ 'Treatise on the Law of Fire Insurance' Has enjoyed the unusual good fortune for a law book, of reaching a second edition within eighteen months of its first appearance. The new edition has been thoroughly revised and the latest cases embodied. Claxton, Remsen & Haffelfinger will publish it shortly." The library has enjoyed the unusual good fortune of having both the 1871 and the 1874 edition of this book. The text itself is in fairly good condition and will require little work, but as you can see in the pictures below, the covers are only held on by some tape and the leather itself has become brittle and begun to disintegrate. You can either adopt one edition to repair or both editions. The cost to repair will be $150 per edition or $300 for both editions. to adopt the book, please email Meagan Stefanow at mstefanow@insurancelibrary.org
